European cooperation in vocational education -

The Copenhagen process



The harmonisation efforts in the field of vocational education and training follows the same process in the field the higher education through the so called Bologna-Process.

The Maastricht Communiqué (date: Dec 14, 2004) defines the pivotal goals in the development of a European area of vocational training and lifelong learning, particularly with regard to key competences (“learning to learn“, mobility) for all citizens.

Copenhagen process on enhanced European cooperation in vocational education and training (VET), has a ministerial follow-up conference every two years. After Copenhagen in 2002 and Maastricht in 2004, Helsinki hosted the 3rd ministerial conference. Ministerial meeting took place on 5 December 2006 in Helsinki.
